The Board of Regents of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) met at the 2019 Annual Meeting in La Quinta, CA to review nominations for a new class of Fellows. We are proud to announce that 40 individuals have been peer-elected to the College. This group of new Fellows spans the US, including three Fiduciary Counsel Fellows, as well as five International Fellows representing Belgium, Canada, China, and Italy.

ACTEC announces John A. (“Jack”) Terrill, II is to serve as the 2019-2020 President. The Board of Regents of the College inaugurated the 2019-2020 officers during its Annual Meeting in La Quinta, California. Terrill, a partner at Heckscher, Teillon, Terrill & Sager, P.C. in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania succeeded ACTEC Fellow Charles D. “Skip” Fox, IV.
An amicus brief in The North Carolina Department of Revenue v. The Kimberley Rice Kaestner 1992 Family Trust was filed on March 1, 2019, with the Supreme Court by ACTEC. This is an important case dealing with the ability of a state to tax the income of an irrevocable nongrantor trust.
With the publication of the Fifth Edition of the ACTEC Commentaries, ACTEC – through the work of its Professional Responsibility Committee and with the financial support of the ACTEC Foundation – is now publishing the Third Edition of Engagement Letters.
