|

When: May 20 @ 7:30 am 12:00 pm

Description:

Registration for this seminar is now open. The registration fee is $125 and includes breakfast. Registration closes on Tuesday, May 13.

This continuing legal education seminar, presented by internationally recognized ACTEC Fellows and experienced Alaska lawyers, will explore the intersection of estate planning and marriage (or the lack thereof). The perspectives of both estate planning and divorce lawyers will be shared for an interdisciplinary discussion.
This program is expected to qualify for 4.5 CLE hours.

The half-day seminar will be divided into three parts:

Estate Planning for Unmarried Couples – An exploration of estate planning issues and concerns for unmarried couples, including prenuptial agreements.

Marriage and Estate Planning – A deep dive into marriage itself, including tax and non-tax issues such as the estate tax marital deduction, community property, and spousal inheritance rights in Alaska.

Estate Planning in Legal Separation and Divorce – A discussion of estate planning issues related to legal separation and divorce, including beneficiary designations, inheritance rights under Alaska law, planning options, and how divorce impacts wills, trusts, and disability planning.

If you are a lawyer, CPA, financial advisor, trust professional, or other estate planning professional with clients who are in nonmarital relationships, married, divorced, or may be facing divorce, please join us for this practical and informative seminar.
